Looked out the living room window this morning and saw this snake on the front porch! My dad and brother and I got out the field guide and decided that it was probably a Black Rat Snake--harmless to humans, but unnerving to see on the front porch! The dogs hadn't even barked at it.

No time to repeat the details as we are off on a Pathfinder camping trip and have to leave in a few minutes.

Oh my. I don't know what I'd do if one of those greeted me! Nice shot though. I like how he's twisted through the railing.
Remind me to stay away from your neighborhood! That thing is HUGE!!!!! I would have been running so fast,I wouldn't even have had time to notice it was curvy let alone photograph it...
Looks similar to an Aussie Carpet snake also non venomous, Beautiful.
OH MY! Good theme photo. I would hate to have one of those especially that size hanging around my window.
Better your house than mine! LOL
Oh, man! Between possoms on Jo's blog and snakes on yours, it's not safe to wander into blogland tonight! It's both icky and cool how you got him winding through the spindles.
Great bird shots on your other blog, by the way!
Oh, my! This sent shivers down my spine. I do not like snakes, harmless or not! You had a ready-made opportunity to get a good photo of him, though.
No camping trip for me, I would have fainted if that was on my front porch! *shudder*
